Classical FX is very proud of our tenor, Tim Augustin for many reasons. While it is true that his singing of standards like Danny Boy can melt your heart and the 9 high C’s in Donizett’s Ah!, mes amis leave audiences stomping and cheering, that’s just one facet of his talent. Next Wednesday evening, November 13, as part of The Kennedy Center’s American Opera Initiative, Tim will sing in 2 of the 3 twenty minute operas commissioned by Washington National Opera. He appears as John Burns in Duffy’s Cut and the lead role of Inspector Henry Mathews in Uncle Alex. All totaled, that makes seven World Premier roles for this member of Classical FX!!

Classical FX has a great friendship with operas from the pen of Verdi who just happens to be celebrating his bicentennial birthday this year. We’ve opened every concert with the sparkling “Libiamo” from La Traviata and love to program the quartet from Rigoletto. This month, you will find 3 FXers onstage at The Kennedy Center’s Opera House in a production of La Forza del Destino or The Force of Destiny. It is an action packed, modern production with vivid reflections right from the nightly news report. But most important is the music it showcases. We especially love the men’s choruses. Bravo Tim and Joe!!Read More
It all started 10 years ago with an idea to honor the life of a Kirkwood Presbyterian Church member who loved music and wanted to spread the joy it brings. The quartet was formed by 4 friends who were already solo performers, resulting in the creation of a unique program that offered solos, duets and quartets that spanned musical genres from opera to Motown. Over the years the vocal quartet has undergone some personnel changes, but the mission to share the joy of music to each audience member has not and will never change.
